The Essential 15 for Work

You’ll get:

  • 15 word-for-word scripts (Work edition)

  • Instant download (PDF)

Use these when:

  • Someone drops a “quick ask” on you at the worst time

  • You need more time / a clearer deadline

  • You’re being pulled into meetings you don’t need

  • You want to reset expectations without over-explaining

See what the scripts sound like:

Asking for an Agenda (before you accept)

The moment: You’re invited to a meeting with no agenda, and you don’t want to keep donating time to vague conversations.
What to say: “Happy to join - can you share the goal for this meeting and what you need from me specifically? If it’s something I can answer async, I can respond by [time], and we can skip the call.”
Note: Clarity isn’t extra. It’s how you protect your time without being difficult.

Resetting “ASAP” expectations

The moment: Everything is marked urgent, and you’re being trained to treat other people’s poor planning as your emergency.
What to say: “I can take this on. The earliest I can deliver is [time/day] given my current priorities. If you need it sooner, please let me know what should move down the list.”
Note: “ASAP” is not a plan. Make them choose the tradeoff.

Holding a boundary when someone keeps circling back

The moment: You already said no (or set a limit), and they keep re-asking in different ways.
What to say: “I hear you. My answer is still the same. I’m not able to take this on, but I can support by [small alternative] or revisit it after [date].”
Note: Repeating yourself isn’t rude. It’s consistency.
